Vancouver to Tokyo, Japan - $533 to $753 CAD roundtrip [Nonstop Flights]

Zipair has dropped the price of their flights from Vancouver to Tokyo, Japan down to between $533 and $753 CAD roundtrip including taxes. The flights are nonstop both ways. The flights are in and out of Tokyo's Narita Airport (NRT). Zipair is a subsidiary of Japan Airlines.

ZipAir also has Full Flat fares in January for $2460 CAD roundtrip. (Read more about Full Flat below, which is pseudo-Business Class).

Things to note about Zipair:

- Zipair aims to offer flights to Japan that are significantly cheaper than their competitors (Air Canada, ANA, and Japan Airlines here in Vancouver). (Note: Zipair is actually owned by Japan Airlines). However, Zipair does not include *anything* in their base fares, other than a small piece of hand luggage. Seat selection, actual carry-on, checked bags, and even meals are all extra.

- If you want to quickly compare Zipair against their competitors, add about $220 CAD roundtrip to their cheapest prices. This is the typical cost of their 'Value' or 'Flex Biz' packages which includes things like carry-on or a checked bag and seat selection.

- So as of right now, these flights are really around $533 + $220 roundtrip, or $753 CAD roundtrip. For comparison, the cheapest prices with Air Canada, ANA, and Japan Airlines for a nonstop flight are currently $1180 CAD roundtrip. The gap between Zip Air's prices and their competitor's has tightened quite a bit in the past year.

Zipair 'Full Flat' Class

Zipair also offers something called 'Full Flat'' class with lie-flat seats that are significantly cheaper than Business Class fares offered by competitors. But again, this Full Flat class is stripped down to it's bare minimum. Full Flat is essentially Economy with a better seat. That's all you get. You still need to pay extra for things that would normally be included on a typical Business Class flight (bags, seat selection, and inflight meals). Priority check-in, baggage handling or boarding, and lounge access are also not included.

Also note that in Full Flat there are no built in screens. You bring your own device and stream entertainment wirelessly.

Seattle to Muscat, Oman - $213 CAD roundtrip including taxes

Alaska Airlines and Oman Air have dropped the price of a few flights from Seattle to Muscat, Oman down to $213 CAD roundtrip including taxes. The flights have 1 stop each way in Rome, Italy. Carry-on and 2 checked bags are included.

I was fortunate enough to visit Oman back in 2025 and it was a fantastic country to visit. Oman has always been known as a very peaceful, relaxed, and welcoming country known for it's historic cities, beautiful desert landscapes, and their stunning wadis. The people were wonderful and kind. Obviously with everything going on in the region, the uncertainty has lead to flight prices that are drastically lower than usual.

Also note that there are a few dates departing from Vancouver for between $593 and $639 CAD roundtrip. See this blog post for details.

Philippine Airlines is showing flights from Seattle to various places in Asia for between $408 and $555 CAD roundtrip including taxes. The flights have 1 stop in Manila each way. Dates are pretty sporadic and limited. Some flights have really long layovers.

They also have *nonstop* (direct) flights from Seattle to Manila, Philippines for $638 CAD roundtrip with a lot more available dates.
