Seattle to various places in Europe in the $500s CAD roundtrip | off-season flights
7
September
The Star Alliance has dropped the price of their flights from Seattle to various places in Europe down into the $500s CAD roundtrip.
Some of the overseas legs are operated by Lufthansa. Some are operated by SWISS. Some are operated by Air Canada. Some are operated by United Airlines. Try to choose flights with the first 3 if you can.
These are off-season dates, so I'm not *super* excited about them in terms of making the drive from Vancouver to take advantage.
But a lot of these destinations are usually $1000-$1200 CAD or more from Vancouver (off season or not), so you may find it worthwhile, if there's somewhere in Europe you'd like to go in the off-season.
Delta, Air France, and KLM (the SkyTeam alliance) are also battling back with some cheap fares of their own, during a similar travel period.

How to find and book this deal
1. Try starting with a Google Flights search like this one...
Google Flights: Seattle to Athens, Greece
2. You can change the destination to somewhere else in Europe, such as:
Athens, Greece (ATH)
Belgrade, Serbia (BEG)
Bucharest, Romania (OTP)
Budapest, Hungary (BUD)
Casablanca, Morocco (CMN)
Istanbul, Turkey (IST)
Lisbon, Portugal (LIS)
Milan, Italy (MXP)
Minsk, Belarus (MSQ)
Munich, Germany (MUC)
Prague, Czech Republic (PRG)
Rome, Italy (FCO)
Shannon, Ireland (SNN)
Sofia, Bulgaria (SOF)
Venice, Italy (VCE)
Warsaw, Poland (WAW)
Zagreb, Croatia (ZAG)
-- Destinations available with Delta, Air France, KLM --
Brussels, Belgium (BRU)
Zurich, Switzerland (ZRH)
3. Click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and look for the cheaper date combinations. Look for the dates that are in the $600s roundtrip.
From Google Flights you can click through to the airline's website to book these.
4. Or, if you want to book them for quite a bit less ...
Go to Momondo
Search for a flight from Seattle to your destination.
Use the same dates you found on Google Flights.
From the Momondo search results, the booking site that is usually showing these for a low price is the low quality booking site TravelMerry.
TIP: On Google Flights, look for the flights where the overseas legs are operated by Lufthansa or Swiss or Air Canada (better than United Airlines). Usually you can get a Lufthansa flight in at least one direction.
TIP: Once your Momondo search completes, you may want to try clicking on '1 stop' on the left hand side. You may also want to try using the 'Max Flight Duration' slider on the left, and slide it down to around 40. This can help get rid of flights that are slightly cheaper, but way longer in duration.
The 'Time of Day' sliders on the left hand side of Momondo can also help with narrowing down the search results to the flights you found on Google Flights.
IMPORTANT: Many of the booking sites showing these fares are in $USD (including TravelMerry) - so watch out for that.
