China Eastern has dropped the price of their late October and November flights from Vancouver to a variety of places in Japan down to between $485 and $588 CAD roundtrip.
However, nearly all of the flights have a long layover in Shanghai, usually on the way there, in the range of 15-17 hours.
Like many destinations around the world, there have not been any really great deals to Japan since the spring of 2019.
In a typical year, great deals to Japan on ANA and Japan Airlines will pop up every now and then in a similar price range. They are much better airlines than China Eastern, and much faster flights (particularly to Tokyo and Osaka).
But unfortunately, this has not been a typical year.
