Seattle to Tokyo, Japan - from $387 roundtrip after taxes

July
UPDATE: Deal now appears to be dead. Congrats to those who got in on it in time, have fun in Japan!
--------------
There are some absolutely ridiculous prices verifying on Vayama.com from Seattle to Asian destinations at the moment.
The #1 (and only) rule? *Do not call*, either Vayama or the airline. That will kill the deal faster than anything. Just book it online and hope for the best. Do not call to ask about seat selection, or anything else, you can do that later, once your ticket has been issued.
Here's some of the crazy prices I've found so far (other dates are likely available). Click through to Vayama.com to see the verified prices.

That's not all though, you can substitute Bangkok, Thailand into the searches above to find other prices that are pretty insane as well.

Other major Asian city hubs would probably be worth a look as well. Share in the comments section if you find any. I'll update if there are others.

I can verify Hong Kong is also fairly cheap - 520USD for a return flight in November, for example.
Thanks Matt!
Did the prices change? They're all over $1000 now.
Only Korean air?
Jay: Prices are still verifying for me. It seems like Vayama is not appearing in Kayak's search results at the moment though. I would try going to Vayama.com directly and entering in dates.
Also, prices seem to be verifying for the most part on Orbitz.com and on CheapTickets.com, although sometimes the prices are verifying higher.
I have a feeling this won't last long.
Awesome deal! But I just checked out reviews for Korean Air on yelp - makes me a bit nervous:
I purchased a ticket on Korean Air two months ago. Last week, I got an email saying the ticket was a "mistake fare" and would be cancelled unless I pay $350 more.
Not only are they making me pay for their mistake, they waited two months to tell me, disrupting hotel and other travel bookings. I can't believe this is legal and I won't be using Korean Air again.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE. I booked tickets to travel SFO to ROR 2.5 months ago. Korean sent me this ridiculous email (we charged you too little money) ?
What do you make of this?
just booked a return trip. thanks
Hi, I've been looking for a paring date to travel but can't find out how to get that price. Any tips? I'm using vayama.com
Thanks
Looks like the deal is gone for Feb, went to vayama.com, fares are $1000+
the deal is back up to $900+ for all months. really have to jump on these things right away!
Thanks Chris. I fell asleep deciding between next March and April to book - and resulted in missing it. I will NOT make that mistake ever again. Damn. :(
Thank you SO much for this service :)
No problem Wendi. Yes, unfortunately this one was gone *really* quickly, even by amazing deal standards.
I guess someone must have broken rule #1 :-/
darn it! i got my reservation confirmed ....8 hrs later...the airline voided my reservation and refunded me >__ SO TICKED!
@gotchi - Which airline voided your reservation? So far Orbitz sent me a travel document with an Airline Ticket Number.
I guess i'll hold off on booking my accomodations for now...
hmmm, isn't it all thru Korean Air? If the 'airline' voided one rather than the website you booked it thru...
i used Orbitz. Orbitz emailed my confirmation and all then sent an email later saying
"We regret to inform you that, due to limited availability, the airline was not able to confirm the flights you requested. As a result, no tickets have been issued for this trip and we have reversed any credit card charges."
siiigh this sucks...my friends didn't have this problem though...
@gotchi - what site did your friends use to book?
the one listed above kayak.com which eventually takes you over to orbitz. the airline (Korean Air?) that seemed to have some ticketing problems
Unfortunately sometimes with a really crazy price like this, an airline or agency will scramble to retract the fares in the system. Typically the people who book first will have the best chance of having their ticket issued.
From the sounds of it, certain people have been issued ticket numbers, while others were told that their ticket wasn't issued.
Apparently with the new DOT regulations in the U.S., if you are issued a ticket #, and an airline or agency tries to get out of it, you can file a complaint with the DOT and they'll be forced to honor it.
@Chris_Myden
Thanks for the information. Yes, once I purchased the ticket. I was sent a reservation confirmation and then sent a travel document with the issued ticket number.
8 hours after, Orbitz sent me that message mentioned in my previous post. And refunded my money/cancelled my ticket.
Yesterday, I called Orbitz to ask why it was cancelled and they pretty much couldn't do anything as the airline had voided it already and cannot reinstate it.
I'll look into this DOT complaint detail but not sure how it'll work out....
This site: http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/publications/flyrights.htm#complain ?
Gotchi: Try submitting your complaint here:
http://airconsumer.dot.gov/escomplaint/es.cfm
I would probably provide and keep records of all the proof you have, including your issued ticket number.
Also take a look at this sample letter on Flyertalk...
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mileage-run-discussion/1341617-gone-rgn-sfo-f-450-one-way-ai-other-n-america-cities-included-prices-vary-119.html
I booked through Orbitz and received ticket numbers. Called Korean Air today and they appear to be valid.
As long as you received a ticket number the new DOT regulations prevent airlines from cancelling the fares as they have in the past.
@Chris_Myden
Thank you for all the tips ?
Ah typed something funny and erased my message.
Arigato/Thank you again for all the help and tips @Chris_Myden and for your comment @Caleb. I will report back and let you guys know how it goes!
Called Korean Air -- they said that they did not void the ticket. The agent, Orbitz.com, did. When first time i called Orbitz, they said Korean Air voided it.
Called Orbitz again to ask why. They said my purchase was pending and that Korean Air did not approve of the fare so that's why Orbitz had to refund me.
I had a slightly different itinerary from my two friends, (returning a week later) and lady said that might have been the issue but that still doesnt make any sense.
Orbitz.com pretty much made the mistake and will not own up to it...and do anything about it!
I would have to make a new reservation which is bull! It was their pricing mistake, my payment went through, so it was the communication b/w them and Korean Air that created this issue.
DOT time.
Hmmm, thanks for sharing what you found out Gotchi. Please keep me updated on what happens with your complaint to DOT.
Thanks, 4 of my friends did purchase tickets right away, (except me)! Thanks for the great deal! Hope there are more to come!
I see someone mentioned flyertalk in a post above. I cross posted this over on that website. Several tickets were booked by people on that site. I have not spent much time there in the last couple years, but it is an incredible travel information resource. Worth checking out.
