There are some amazing airfares available on All Nippon Airways that allow you to visit both Tokyo, Japan and Cambodia for just $606 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The initial flight from Vancouver to Tokyo, Japan is non-stop.
The flight between Tokyo, Japan and Phnom Penh, Cambodia is also included, and is non-stop.
On the way home, there is an all day stop in Tokyo. You arrive at Tokyo's NRT airport in the morning, and then depart from Tokyo's HND airport (close to downtown Tokyo) in the evening.

October 2016 to April 2017
November to March is generally considered the best time to visit Cambodia.

What if I want to stay longer in Tokyo?
You can try changing the middle date, so that you spend more time in Tokyo on the way there. Advancing the middle date to one day later for example, usually bumps up the price by about $40. Advancing it by 2 or more days usually bumps up the price by $100.

I want to go to Tokyo but not interested in Cambodia at all. What would happen if I "missed" the flight to Cambodia? Would they still let me get on the flight back to Vancouver from Tokyo? Had anyone done that before?
You can't "miss" anything in a set of flights but the last one, otherwise, any flight after the "missed" flight will be cancelled. So, for example: YVR> HND> Cambodia> HND> YVR. If you miss the Cambodia flight, the flight to HND and also YVR will be cancelled.
