Open Jaw: Seattle to London and then Amsterdam to Vancouver (or Victoria) - $159 CAD roundtrip including taxes
3
October
WestJet is showing some ridiculously cheap open jaw flights involving Seattle, London, Amsterdam, and Vancouver.
You can fly from Seattle to London, UK and then from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Vancouver (or Victoria) for $159 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
Of course there are a few caveats here:
1. You need to find your way to Seattle, one way.
According to BusBud.com public transport options range from $42-$68 CAD. Amtrak service from Vancouver to Seattle restarted on September 27th.
2. A flight between London and Amsterdam is not included. A typical flight costs $75-$100 CAD between LHR and AMS. Or slightly cheaper from LGW ($50-$75 CAD).
UPDATE @ 4 PM PST - It appears all dates have sold out. However, some people are reporting that they can still find cheap ones through WestJet's 'Member Exclusive Fares' and using their WestJet Dollars to purchase (requires sign-in on WestJet's website). I've posted some info about this below.
Availability for travel
November, first half of December 2022
January, February 2023
How to find and book this deal
Step 1
Go to FlightHub or the WestJet website.
Step 2 - Search for a Multi-City flight like this one:
Leg #1: Seattle (SEA) to London (LON)
Leg #2: Amsterdam (AMS) to Vancouver (YVR)
For Leg #2, Amsterdam (AMS) to Victoria (YYJ) or Nanaimo (YCD) also works.
For Leg #1 use one of the following dates
Nov 25, 26, 30
Dec 3, 5, 6
-- previously available dates --
Nov 7, 8, 16, 17, 20, 22, 29
Dec 1, 2, 8, 9
Jan 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31
Feb 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
For Leg #2 use one of the following dates
Nov 17, 19, 22, 24
Jan 14, 17, 19, 21, 24, 26, 28, 31
Feb 2, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 28
Mar 2, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16
-- previously available dates --
Nov 26, 29
Dec 3, 6, 8
NOTE: If you see an overnight layover in Calgary for one of the legs try adjusting the date by one day (forward or backward) and search again. You can definitely find flights without overnight layovers in both directions.
Common Question: If we don't want to take the Seattle flight, can we just skip it and fly from Calgary to London?
Unfortunately not, airlines usually cancel the remainder of a ticket once a leg is intentionally missed. This article attempts to explain why they do that.
You may still be able to find some of these using WestJet Dollars if you have some in your account
1. Go to the the WestJet website and sign-in to your WestJet account (required for the WestJet website to display 'Member Exclusive Fares' in WestJet Dollars).
2. Change the 'Trip Type' to 'Multi-City' and search for a Multi-City flight like this one:
Leg #1: Seattle (SEA) to London (LON)
Leg #2: Amsterdam (AMS) to Vancouver (YVR)
For Leg #2, Amsterdam (AMS) to Victoria (YYJ) or Nanaimo (YCD) also works.
For Leg #1 try one of the following dates
Jan 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, 31
Feb 1, 3, 5
For Leg #2 try one of the following dates
Jan 28
Feb 16, 18, 21, 23, 28
Mar 2, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16
3. After your search completes you'll see fares that are somewhere around $617 CAD per leg. But if you click on 'View' under the $600-something price, you may find that it shows you a 'Member Exclusive Fare' for, say, 26 WestJet Dollars + $40 CAD, like this...
...and then 34 WestJet Dollars + $52 CAD for the way home, like this...
NOTE: It is also possible to buy WestJet Dollars, but it's a ripoff (100 WestJet Dollars costs $200 Canadian). After signing into your WestJet account go to this page for info. The purchase of WestJet Dollars is through a third party site (Points.com). There is currently a promotion to save 35% off of the ripoff price.

Hi Chris, Ty, I will be keeping an eye for Denmark.
Thanks Chris were in Scotland right now thanks to your Dublin deal and just booked Seattle, London,Amsterdam, Vancouver through my WestJet account always wanted to see the Christmas markets in Europe. Thanks again
Just booked this as well - Seat selection is extra $20-70 per flight. Total cost was $214 return including taxes and seat selection on the longer flights. How do you manage to find these deals on obscure routes???
Keep up the good work!!!!!
Correction is has worked and is confirmed!!!
Still lots of options through the WestJet website. Especially Jan/Feb/Mar.
Darn
ARe there any of the rock bottom prices left?? Need help
Michael: Yes, it's still alive. The available dates have been updated.
Deal seems to be mostly dead as of 4pm PT
Thank you so much Chris! I have booked many many times off your tips and this is likely the best one I have seen yet
just tried a bunch and cant get anything below $600 must be doing something wrong. aaargh. My wife and I are both finally retired and have been dying to use your deals. will try again. Thanks
Just need to act sooner. My fault.
UPDATE @ 4 PM PST - It appears all dates have sold out.
Did I miss it? I can't find these deals :(
Hey Chris, how do we ensure that WestJet will honor this flight? Would they consider it an error fare and cancel? Just want to make sure to know this before I book any additional legs of the journey or hotels. Thanks!
Hello! Thanks for sharing this awesome deal!!! Wondering, if this fare was posted in error, would anyone have any thoughts as to how long before they would start cancelling tickets? Or are we safe now?!
Generally speaking I would say the percentage chance of everything being fine look something like this...
24 hours have passed: 66%
48 hours have passed: 80%
72 hours have passed: 99%
I only say 99% and not 100% because, well, I suppose nothing in life is 100% certain. But if you want to be really, really, really sure all is fine, I would wait 72 hours.
Some of you might remember the WestJet - Sell Off Vacations error fare that happened in February of 2020 (Vancouver to London for $275 CAD roundtrip).
Looking back at that one, there were initially people reporting cancellations after 36 hours had passed. (Eventually the price was honored by WestJet after a back and forth finger pointing social media battle between WestJet and Sell Off Vacations)
So far at just under the 24 hour mark I haven't seen any reports of any cancellations.
And technically it's still available for those with WestJet Dollars.
Thank you so much Chris for sharing these amazing deals! GBY
Thanks for the deal Chris. I booked it! Do you know how it works if I decide to forego the seattle to Calgary and just fly direct from Vancouver to Calgary on a different instead. I'd prefer to not have to drive from Van to Seattle. I've never really done multi-city trips.
Hi Mel, unfortunately all airlines will usually cancel the remainder of a ticket once one leg is intentionally missed. This article attempts to explain why they do that.
I was able to book this within 30 minutes of your post. I upgraded from $159 for the (brutal) 22 hour layover in Calgary to only a 5 hour layover for $280 and got the return to Victoria for no extra charge. Amazing deal. Thanks!
Chris is correct. You can't skip a leg or the entire ticket will be cancelled. My wife and I booked a one way train ticket with Amtrak from Vancouver to Seattle for only $39 USD the night before the flight and will stay in a motel next to SeaTac. It's the easiest / cheapest way to get to Seattle that I found. -Jeremy
