Air New Zealand has dropped the price of their flights from Vancouver to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands down to $785 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The flights have 1 stop each way, in Los Angeles.
This isn't as low as they've ever gone. Back in 2017, they dropped to $618 CAD roundtrip. But this is the lowest they've gone since that time.
These fares are also available from Victoria (YYJ) for the same price, with an extra stop in Vancouver.
I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Cook Islands last year with that deal. Here's my Google map of things to do, see, eat, etc if it helps anyone out.
Rarotonga island might remind you of Hawaii, but with way less development. It's probably what Hawaii looked like 40 years ago. I think the tallest structure I saw was 2 stories.
I learned that they get less than 10,000 visitors per year from North America! (Most are from New Zealand, about 10 times that amount).
You can drive the well paved road around the entire island in about an hour.
They use the New Zealand dollar, which is usually worth about the same as ours.
Update 5/18 - It looks like all dates have sold out.
