United Airlines and ANA (All Nippon Airways) have dropped the price of their flights from Vancouver to Bangkok, Thailand down to between $514 and $568 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
You can also find flights from Victoria (YYJ) or Nanaimo (YCD) for a similar price.

February, March 2018 (a few dates, see update below)
April, May, June 2018
late August, September, October, November 2018 (depart by Oct 31)
How to find and book this deal
1. Try starting with a Google Flights search like this one:
Google Flights: Vancouver to Bangkok, Thailand
- click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations around $558 CAD roundtrip
- Search for a flight from Vancouver to Bangkok, Thailand (BKK)
- Use the same dates you found on Google Flights
NOTE: After your Flighthub search completes, click on 'Flexible Dates' to see more dates for $514 to $568 CAD roundtrip. This option is not available on the mobile site.

You can also find 2-in-1 trips that allow you to visit both Thailand AND Japan for a total of around $613 to $668 CAD roundtrip including taxes
2. Change the Trip Type to 'Multi-City'
3. Search for a flight like this one:
Vancouver (YVR) to Tokyo, Japan (TYO)
Tokyo, Japan (TYO) to Bangkok, Thailand (BKK)
Bangkok, Thailand (BKK) to Vancouver (YVR)
- For the first and third flights, try using dates that are the same as the cheap dates you found for a regular roundtrip flight on Google Flights.
- Play around with the middle date to give yourself more or less time in Japan vs Thailand.
- Trips don't have to be 2 weeks, they can be longer.
- Other days of the week may also work. I would focus on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday dates.

A lot of people want to know: "What happens if I just decide to stay in Tokyo, Japan and not go to Bangkok. Can I do that?"
Unfortunately all airlines will automatically cancel the remaining flights on your ticket, as soon as you intentionally miss any leg of the journey.
What you could do is try looking for one with a long stay in Tokyo, but a really short stay in Bangkok.
For example, May 16 to May 28 to May 29 is $622.
The flight gets into Bangkok at 11 PM on the Monday, and leaves the next day at around 7 AM.

Update 1/16 - There are a *few* February / March ANA flights from Vancouver to Bangkok showing up on Momondo for $531 to $566 CAD roundtrip including taxes

Try one of the following date combinations:
Feb 18 to Mar 12 -- $566
Feb 21 to Mar 13 -- $531
