Air Canada has dropped the price of their flights from Vancouver to Beijing and Shanghai, China down to $498 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The flights are non-stop both ways.
You can also fly from Vancouver to Beijing, and then from Shanghai to Vancouver, for $468 CAD roundtrip (see instructions below).
You can also find similarly priced flights from Victoria (YYJ) with 1 stop in Vancouver each way.
NOTE: Canadians require a visa to visit China (there are exceptions but research them carefully).

How to find and book this deal
1. Try this Google Flights search:
Google Flights: Vancouver to Beijing, China
Google Flights: Vancouver to Shanghai, China
Google Flights: Victoria to Beijing, China
Google Flights: Victoria to Shanghai, China
- click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations
- look for the dates that are $499 roundtrip

1. Go to Flighthub
2. Change the search type from 'Roundtrip' to 'Multi City'
3. Search for a flight like this one:
Vancouver (YVR) to Beijing (PEK)
Shanghai (PVG) to Vancouver (YVR)
- Try using dates that are the same as the ones you found for a regular roundtrip flight to Beijing on Google Flights.
