Vancouver to China - $739 roundtrip after taxes | up to March 2014

It looks like Air Canada is offering some significantly cheaper fares on their nonstop (direct) flights between Vancouver and Shanghai or Beijing, China.
Perhaps they are finally trying to compete with the low cost Asian carriers out of Vancouver that have been so aggressive with their fares in the last year. At this price, they are even undercutting Air China's flights (the next cheapest) by about $100.
Shanghai ($739) looks to be slightly cheaper than Beijing ($795). The cheap fares to China look to be available on a large variety of dates between September 2013 and March 2014.
I've found that the easiest way to explore these fares is to try a flexible date search on Kayak. Here's an example for late September, early October...

Look for the non-stop flights with a total travel time of about 11 hours each way.
