Look for rental cars before you book a flight. There’s a massive shortage in Hawaii. You probably won’t get a rental in September, which might change your trip plan
Any idea why there's a rental car shortage? I would think that visitors would be down. Did some rental car companies go out of business or reduce their fleets?
Rental car agencies sold off their inventory during Covid to survive. so the remaining fleet is limited. That's one reason
Kevin, tourism is UP. Hawaii is overrrun with tourists actually. Maui has asked people not to come.
Google "maui overrun with tourists" and see for yourself.
Hawaii is a beautiful place. Please be respectful if you decide to take advantage of this deal.
Even in the absence of Rental car, there is always Uber and Lyft.
Only issue is that you need Covid testing both ways and that can get pretty expensive.
double dose vaccination proof not enough? need covid test both ways?
Are they accepting a double vac of AZ and Moderna?
Just came back from Hawaii Aug 8.
Covid Test 72 hrs before you leave. $200
Proof of double vax.
Approval needed from State of Hawaii app before you leave.
Another Covid test 72 hrs before your return home.$150 USD
Proof of double vax and submission on ArrivCan app
Another Covid test on arrival at YVR (no charge).
Its Hawaii....still worth the hassle !!!
Thank you very helpful. So just to clarify they do accept mixed vaccinations?
Sorry, I dont know.....I have both doses the same so I had no issue.
Dont we need to quarantine 10 days in Hawaii?? Im planning going for 4 days!
If you are vaxed and have a Covid test 72hrs prior to arrival, you can apply for an exemption to the 10 day quarantine.
