United Airlines has dropped the price of their flights from Vancouver to Sydney and Melbourne, Australia down to between $830 and $854 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The flights have 1 stop each way, in Los Angeles or San Francisco.
You can also find similar prices from Victoria (YYJ), with an extra stop in Vancouver.
In the last few years, there have been better deals than this to Australia, particularly with Qantas. But this is the best deal there has been from Vancouver to Australia since early 2019.
Update 9/25 - Qantas is showing a few *non-stop* flights from Vancouver to Sydney, Australia in July 2020 for $933 to $954 CAD roundtrip (see update below).
Update 10/8 - These are back.

2. In Google Flights, click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations
3. Go to Skyscanner
- search for a flight from Vancouver (YVR) to...
Sydney (SYD)
or
Melbourne (MEL)
- use the same dates you found on Google Flights
- the price on Skyscanner will usually be around $75 cheaper than what you see on Google Flights.

Just booked 5 tickets (2 adults, 3 kids) Victoria to Sydney in March for $3900 through United via Google Flights. I couldn't find a similar deal via Skyscanner but pretty happy with this. Thanks.
