Hong Kong Airlines is showing flights from Vancouver to The Maldives for $668 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
The flights have 1 stop each way, in Hong Kong.
Aside from the really low price, the other interesting thing about these flights is that they are the fastest flights from Vancouver to the Maldives.
You can also turn these into a 2-in-1 trip and visit both Hong Kong *and* the Maldives, for $43 more (see below).
On November 29th, Hong Kong airlines unexpectedly announced that they will be discontinuing service from Vancouver to Hong Kong next year. A YVR Deals member sent me some great info on the options that are available to those who booked this deal (thanks Parveen!). That info can be found below.
Hong Kong Airlines cancels service from Vancouver
Parveen writes...
I jumped on the Maldives deal. Since that time, Hong Kong airlines has cancelled flights leaving YVR after February 20.
Everyone who booked needs to contact the airline (if they booked directly) or their travel agency / website they booked through.
These are the options to deal with this:
1. Full refund of unused sectors to passengers who will travel on or after the service ends and wish to cancel their trips
2. Free change of travel date for flights
- between Hong Kong and Vancouver before 12 February 2020
- between Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City before 20 February 2020
- between Hong Kong and Tianjin before 10 February 2020
3. Free change to any destination operated by Hong Kong Airlines (applicable fare and taxes difference may apply)
4. Free transfer to other partner carriers to be arranged by Hong Kong Airlines (subject to seat availability)
As I already booked my hotel, I did not want to cancel the flight, so Flighthub put in a request for me to be transferred to a partner airline. I will see how it goes over the next few days and hopefully it is approved.
The options seem to be to transfer to Eva Air and China Eastern.

If these are the 2 airlines presented to you as options, definitely choose Eva Air if possible, being the better airline.
Availability for travel
April, May, June 2020
April is the tail end of what most consider to be the best months to visit the Maldives (November to April).
How to find and book this deal
1. Go to Skyscanner or Kayak
2. Search for a flight from Vancouver to Male, Maldives (MLE)
Try one of the following date combinations:
Apr 20 to Apr 30, May 3, 5, 7, 10
Apr 27 to May 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14
May 4 to May 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24
May 11 to May 17, 19, 21, 24, 26, 28
May 18 to May 24, 26, 28, Jun 4, 9, 16
May 25 to Jun 4, 9, 16
Jun 1 to Jun 9, 16

1. Go to Skyscanner or Kayak
2. Click on the 'Flights' tab
3. Change the search type from Roundtrip to Multi-City
4. Search for a flight like this one:
Vancouver (YVR) to Hong Kong (HKG)
Hong Kong (HKG) to Male, Maldives (MLE)
Male, Maldives (MLE) to Vancouver (YVR)
For the first and last legs of the journey, try using dates from the list of regular roundtrip dates above.
NOTE: The middle date must be within 3 days of the first day.
examples:
Apr 20 to Apr 23 to May 3
Apr 27 to Apr 30 to May 7
May 4 to May 7 to May 14
May 11 to May 14 to May 21

Booked Maldives April 20 to 30th, no worries about holidays.
Ramadan in 2019 will start on Monday, the 6th of May (6/5/2019) and will continue for 30 days until Tuesday, the 4th of June.

They rebooked me so give your travel agency a call. If you didn’t book directly through them they will want you to go through wherever you booked. My new flights were confirmed this morning
