Westjet and LifeLabs Collaborate to offer Pre-Travel PCR Testing for Hawaii
7
December
For those heading to Hawaii with Westjet, it's now possible to get tested in British Columbia.
WestJet announced that it has collaborated with LifeLabs in British Columbia to offer State of Hawaii-approved pre-departure testing.
A negative COVID test within 72-hours of departure will exempt the guest from the state's required 14-day quarantine.
More info about the requirements for Hawaii can be found here.
Guests travelling to Hawaii are responsible for ensuring they receive a test within 72-hours of their flight departing to Hawaii in order to avoid quarantine and will be required to display their negative test result prior to boarding.
If test results are not available before boarding the final leg of the trip, the traveller must quarantine for 14 days or the length of the stay, whichever is shorter.
Guests in BC can book a test for a fee of $250 plus tax at the following LifeLabs locations:
Bon Voyage Medical – Coquitlam, BC
Iridia Medical – Vancouver, BC
Care Point Medical Clinic – Vancouver, BC

why are we paying $250 when alberta $150 and ontario is $199
I'm guessing that the price is up the individual testing companies that have been contracted for this and what they think the market will bear in each province.
This is quite unfortunate to see such high testing fees, relative to other places around the world that have successfully implemented Covid rapid tests.
It becomes cost prohibitive for a family to travel on the airlines to one of these sun destinations. I'm surprised the airlines have not worked to lower the fee.
