2-in-1 trip: Vancouver (or Victoria) to Tokyo, Japan *and* Taiwan - $593 CAD roundtrip

Japan Airlines is showing 2-in-1 flights that allow you to spend time in both Tokyo, Japan and Taipei, Taiwan for $593 CAD roundtrip including taxes.
You would fly from Vancouver to Tokyo, Japan (spend time there) and then fly from Tokyo to Taipei, Taiwan (spend time there), and then fly home from Taipei to Vancouver.
The flights are into Tokyo's Narita Airport (NRT) - which is the one further away from downtown Tokyo.
Canadian citizens do not require a visa to visit Taiwan.
Is it possible to just fly to Japan for this price and forget about Taiwan?
You can't completely eliminate Taiwan, but you can minimize the time spent in Taiwan down to just 1 night.

Dates in March, April 2021 are also working, but Japan and Taiwan are both currently closed for tourism. Japan has mentioned they are aiming to open back up in spring of 2021, but it's far from certain.

3. Play around with the dates on Google Flights, to give yourself more or less time in Japan or Taiwan.
Many different date combinations are working.
4. NOTE: Clicking through from Google Flights to Budget Air seems to usually produce an error. Clicking through to Gotogate works.
